Mr. Hauptmann’s Class Newsletter
September 8, 2014
We
had a great first week and I am so excited for the upcoming year! I will be
sending home a newsletter like this each week, and I am asking you and your
child to sign it and return it to school on Tuesday. Included in the
newsletters will be information about what we are learning and important
upcoming dates. This week we are reading “The Volcano That Changed the World”
by Lauren Tarshis and “Silverman City” by Jenny Nimmo. We will focus on some
vocabulary words in these stories (see below).
It would be helpful if you will reinforce the meaning of these words at
home with your child. In math we are reviewing place value and number sense. Please
sign the bottom of the newsletter and return the lower portion with your child
on Tuesday. I look forward to meeting everyone next Wednesday night! Let’s have
a great week!
Important Words to Know:
drought, dormant, plumes, climate,
dissipate, migration
Important Upcoming Dates:
Tuesday, September 16: Picture Day
Wednesday, September 17: 4th
Gr. “Meet Your Teacher” Night
