Class Newsletter- Week of January 21, 2014

Mr. Hauptmann’s Class Newsletter
Unit 6, Week 1- January 21, 2014

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend, and now are ready to get back into the swing of school! We have many things coming up in the next month… we finished our Chris Van Allsburg author study, and now we will be gearing up for the Science Fair (more information on that next week), as well as continuing to work on writing long compositions and answering open response questions. In memory of Martin Luther King Jr., we will be reading “My Brother Martin” this week. This biography is written by Christine King Farris, the older sister of the late Dr. King. Her book tells the story of how one boyhood experience inspired a movement. We will focus on some new vocabulary words in this story. It would be helpful if you will reinforce the meaning of these words at home with your child.  Also, on this newsletter you will find our spelling words for the week. The words in italics are our challenge spelling words. Let’s have a great week!
